‘Visual Learners’ are learners that prefer and/or learn more efficiently with visual media when studying. These visual aids include but are not limited to: images, maps, charts, and diagrams.
Common Characteristics found in ‘Visual Learners’:
- Artistic and creative
- Color and space conscious
- Likes to doodle
- Daydreamers
- Remembers what they see
- Understands information best when they can see it
Tips for Success:
- Draw images and diagrams to help you study
- Transfer the information from written work into visual media
- i.e. posters, diagrams, and/or charts
- Watch educational videos
- Use mind maps for note taking
- Highlight and underline important information (use bright colors)
- Replace words/terms/concepts with drawings or pictures
- Make associations with symbols, initials, and doodles when taking notes
- This may help you remember the concept by associating images or symbols with concepts rather than words
